A day out in and around Littlehampton

The bustling seaside towns of Rustington and Littlehampton have plenty to offer residents, local visitors and further afield tourists. Once a sleepy seaside village, over the past 150 years Rustington has grown and became a location of seaside holidays with a thriving industrial port in neighbouring Littlehampton. The town remains a popular seaside destination and is much loved by locals. 

Packed full of life with numerous attractions and restaurants to discover, come with us as we enjoy a day out and about in Littlehampton: 

9am - Seahorse Café, Littlehampton

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so why not start your day with a filling fry up! The Seahorse Café offers a range of all-day breakfasts for those lazy brunches, and of course they also have a great range of teas and coffees. For those looking for a sweet treat, the Seahorse Café also has freshly baked cakes and other goodies. The café is located 100 yards from the beach, which is perfect for our next location.

10am - West Beach, Littlehampton

After such a large breakfast, you can always work it off by exploring the lovely pebble beach. West Beach offers amazing sea views that provide the perfect backdrop for a morning walk. With board walks, sand dunes and of course the beach itself there are many great walks to explore. For those interested in trying open water swimming, this is the place to start!

12:30 - Mewsbrook Café, Littlehampton

Once an adequate appetite has been built up, it’s time for a spot of lunch! The award-winning Mewsbrook Café offers a range of freshly made toasted sandwiches, salads and the classic seaside fish and chips to enjoy. Located at the delightful Mewsbrook Park which offers 10 acres of green space including a boating lake, miniature railway and play areas, you can easily spend an afternoon strolling and taking in the surrounds.

3pm - Littlehampton Miniature Railway, Littlehampton

All aboard! Littlehampton is home to a quintessential miniature railway that is fun for the whole family. Running between Mewsbrook Park to Norfolk Gardens the miniature railway dates back to 1947 and is today operated by the Littlehampton Heritage Railway Association. The route showcases some of Littlehampton’s best seaside views. 

4.30pm - Littlehampton Museum, Littlehampton

After all the excitement of enjoying a little piece of history riding the Littlehampton Miniature Railway, our next stop is Littlehampton Museum which further explores the rich and vibrant heritage of the town. Admission to the museum is free and visitors can enjoy exploring the permanent galleries, where they can see a wealth of extraordinary Bronze Age, Iron Age and Roman archaeology, beautiful fossils found in the region, and discover the story behind the town's journey from Roman Settlement through to the prosperous Victorian era and the present-day leisure haven.

6pm - The Greensward

There is no better way to end the day than by watching the sunset over the sea. Bringing a sense of clarity and closing off a busy action-packed day, The Greensward is the perfect place to experience the best sea views. The beautiful gardens provide the perfect backdrop to end a busy day of exploring.
