Walking a mile in Arthur’s shoes…

Throughout Walking Month 2025, the Pegasus Homes team were proud to raise a total of £950 for Re-engage charity, walking a combined total of over 6,800 miles alongside our wonderful residents in our communities from Staffordshire to Buckinghamshire. Our Senior Leadership Team joined our residents on walks around their neighbourhood throughout the month of May, hearing stories from within the Pegasus Homes community and the wider local area that our residents call home.

One person who knows a bit more about walking than most is Arthur Thomson, who has lived in our Cranleigh Coves community for 3 years. Arthur is one of the country’s most decorated race-walkers in the M70 age category, and he still to this day holds European records in a variety of distances for his age group, from the 10,000m all the way up to 50km, as noted by European Masters Athletics. Arthur still holds the World Record for M70 3000m race walk, which has stood for over 10 years since 2012.

We’re very proud of our combined efforts for Walking Month as a business, which have been inspired by Arthur and his story - let alone the example he sets for how it can be done!

It seemed only fitting that we sit down with Arthur and his family to hear about his career and how he and his wife and daughter juggled his success with family life. Now enjoying his retirement from athletics at Cranleigh Cove, it was an honour to sit down with Arthur, his wife Bonita and their daughter Sue, to hear about the incredible career he had.
