For business owners Adele and Geoffrey, Leyton Road in Harpenden was the perfect next move, with a welcoming and secure place to call home in an ideal location. Wishing to move closer to family, Adele and Geoffrey came across Pegasus while searching for quality, up-market apartments in the local area and enjoyed the fact that they could choose to rent, as they own additional properties within the UK.
“From our perspective, we have other properties and the income for rental and the maths just came together,'' explained Geoffrey, “To find somewhere like this, where we’re allowed to mix with rental and purchase, is unusual - and it really is in a good position. You’ve got lovely shops, lovely restaurants, buses and the train all on your doorstep.”
The main features that Adele and Geoffrey wanted from their new home was something upmarket, safe, light and spacious. “We chose a 2 bedroom apartment and we didn’t bring a lot of furniture with us. We gave some items to charity, so we had a clean slate to work with and we kept it simple when buying new furniture - so it feels very spacious,” commented Adele. “It’s contemporary, but it is such a warm and welcoming apartment. We haven't really had to put the heating on and it feels very relaxing. Small things, like the pictures in the hallway all around the staircase, really make a difference. It looks lovely.”
For the globetrotting couple, who first met when they were teenagers at a youth club in Liverpool, Adele and Geoffrey also valued the secure location of Leyton Road, for when they wished to lock-up and leave their apartment for periods of time. “We normally go away over Christmas, either on a cruise or to stay with relatives. We often go to America and we’ll pick up a car and drive from Orlando along the West Coast, or drive towards Miami, and this place is perfect for that.”
Geoffrey noted, “You can lock up and go and you’ve got someone like Donna, the Lifehost, who is on hand and people walking around. The beauty is everything we’ve got here is so safe, one evening we even forgot to lock the door! It’s very good, I'd highly recommend it.”
Adele further commented, “The people are lovely and so friendly here. Everyone helps each other and it does feel like a community. No one is on their own.”
“Once a month, a meal is organised in one of the restaurants in Harpenden and everyone splits the bill. Donna also does coffee mornings and there is a film club, which is wonderful, especially for those on their own.”
Since moving to Leyton Road, the couple have additionally found they enjoy the peace and quiet of their new home, “I came in the other day from Manchester”, explained Geoffrey, “and I said to Donna, I feel like I’m coming home. I walk through the door and switch off - this is my sanctuary.”
“It’s very quiet. Our upstairs neighbour is building an island and we haven’t heard a thing! The insulation is really good. We wanted somewhere nice, safe and convenient and this ticks all the boxes.”
For when friends and family wish to visit Harpenden, Leyton Road additionally offers ample space and convenience for hosting. “There’s plenty of parking spaces and spaces for visitors, which was a good attraction. We haven’t used the guest suite yet, but we have family coming over from Australia in May who can use the guest suite, which gives them more space.”
Reflecting on the choice to move to Leyton Road, Adele noted, “We’re very pleased and we feel like we’ve done the right thing. It’s a lovely area.”
“There’s really no complaints. It was a good decision and the team at Pegasus are lovely and very understanding.”
