When Mary Smith made the move back from France to the UK after 23 years of living there, she wasn’t originally looking for a retirement property.

Mary had worked in sales, marketing and business development before moving to Loire Valley in France with her husband. During her time there she worked as a wedding celebrant, organising chateau wedding ceremonies. After her husband sadly passed away in November 2019 she decided to move back to England to be closer to her children.

It was the high standard of Renaissance Sandbanks Road that first drew Mary to the community.

Mary explains: “I wasn’t originally looking for a later living property, I just wanted a nice apartment. And this was the nicest and the best furnished I'd seen. The space is beautifully lit and the decor is so well finished. It’s the highest standard I’ve ever seen.”

She moved into apartment 20 in June 2021, choosing it specifically for its large open plan living and kitchen area and views of Poole Park. “I have lots of family that come over to visit and stay with me, so having a large open-plan apartment is perfect.”

Keeping active is a great hobby of Mary’s so having Poole Park on her doorstep at Renaissance Sandbanks Road is also an added draw: “I really enjoy swimming, lawn tennis and cycling and have started to cycle around Poole Park. I’m also currently on the lookout for a bridge partner.”

Mary describes her move to Renaissance Sandbanks Road as something she didn’t consider she needed but she couldn’t be happier that she’s done it.

She explains: “It really is the whole package. I have a new car so the underground secure garage is a great asset. My children also thought the move was a great idea as it means I’m future proofing. The community aspect is great because my move from France means I don’t have many friends here and I know that having a community around me will be even more of a benefit in the future too.”

Renaissance Sandbanks Road comprises 32 spacious and well-appointed one- and two-bedroom apartments, many with private patios or balconies. Designed to enhance wellbeing, these light and bright homes are complemented by communal facilities including a convivial shared lounge, where you can gather with friends and neighbours, and a social kitchen for preparing drinks and snacks.
