Inclusivity and support for the local community is an important part of the ethos at Renaissance Sandhurst, part of Lifestory. The later living community, consisting of 42 new homes in the heart of Sandhurst, were delighted to support New Scotland Hill School with their end of year event.

The Santa Run event  was a new school activity put together in lieu of the school’s Christmas carols which last year the children had been able to perform at Renaissance Sandhurst which unfortunately could not be organised this time due to COVID-19 restrictions. All of the 200 children at the school took part in the Santa Run in their individual classes and enjoyed celebratory Santa hats, medals  and chocolate treats purchased by Renaissance Sandhurst.

As well as sponsoring the event with post Santa Run treats for everyone involved, Renaissance Sandhurst also donated a Christmas hamper prize from the recently launch Aldi for one deserving student and their family. They also provided a contribution towards a drone purchase to enable the production of videos for upcoming school events which will be shared with the children for them to keep as memorabilia of their best years at school.

Phil Kellaway, Area Sales Manager at Renaissance Sandhurst, said: “We were delighted to continue supporting New Scotland Hill albeit through a different way this time. The whole nation is going through some extraordinarily hard times, especially schools as they try to adapt to the new normal so we are so glad we could help bring some cheer . We will be sharing the video of the Santa Run event with our homeowners and renters at Renaissance Sandhurst and hopefully we can continue our Christmas carols tradition with the pupils next Christmas.’’

Simon Cotterill, Headteacher at New Scotland Hill School, added: “We are very thankful to Renaissance Sandhurst for their continued support this year and their willingness to put together a festive activity for the children during this unsettling year. It was a really nice way to bring the community feel back for the children in their different age groups during a times where events are tricky.  It definitely brightened the whole mood in the school and the children were particularly happy with all their treats.’’
