Later living specialist, Pegasus, part of Lifestory, has secured a coveted prize in the 2021 WhatHouse? Awards for its independent, later living community, The Vincent, in Bristol’s Redland neighbourhood.
The judges, drawn from an extensive panel of property experts, including architects, surveyors, property writers and industry specialists praised key elements of the design combining old architecture with new, by award-winning architect Allford Hall Monaghan Morris. In addition to this, the quality of our bright apartments, gardens and amenities were considered as we deliver excellent homes and facilities for retirement living.
Now in their 41st year, the WhatHouse? Awards is renowned to be a highly respected symbol of prestige and excellence, where judges identify the best new homes in the United Kingdom.
Mike Gill, Regional Managing Director of Lifestory said: “We are thrilled to win Silver for Best Retirement Development at the WhatHouse? Awards 2021. Often referred to as the oscars of the housebuilding industry. Winning a WhatHouse? Award is a great accolade as it reassures potential buyers they are purchasing from one of Britain’s best housebuilders.
“We would like to share our congratulations to the whole project team including the architects, Allford Hall Monaghan Morris and contractors, Blue Sky Building with whom Lifestory collaborated to accomplish a beautiful restoration of the Victorian building and the creation of two four- and five-storey modern terraces. Winning the award is a fantastic recognition to show that we have created exceptional homes and a beautiful community.”
Queen Victoria House was originally built in 1886 and has been sympathetically refurbished to preserve its rich heritage and accentuate its unique period features with the Victorian influence extending to the design of the newly built terraces named Charlotte and Jacob. The Grade II Listed obelisk was erected by past owner of the then Vincent Lodge, Jacob Wilcox Rickets in commemoration of Charlotte Augusta, Prince of Wales and the terraces pay homage to this history.
The Vincent was last year awarded a Gold Star Award from the Redland and Cotham Amenities Society. The awards celebrate good quality developments completed in the area that are clearly visible to the public. The sixty-four apartments are spread across the three buildings with the added communal facilities of a wellness spa and gym, on-site restaurant and elegant owners’ lounge. The buildings overlook the scenic and expansive grounds. Beyond The Vincent are leafy Redland and Clifton with lovely tree-lined paths leading to Clifton Village, while the bustling route along Whiteladies Road into the city centre helps to make this a desirable place to call home.
