When Pam Paine made the decision to downsize from her detached three-bedroom house in Bexhill-on-Sea in East Sussexit was the location of Renaissance Wantage that attracted her most. Built on the site of the former magistrates’ court in the heart of the historic town, it could not have been more central to meet her needs.

Pam explains: “I had a fairly open mind about location and viewed other properties near Fleet, Weybridge and Hartley Wintney. My top priority was position, being close to the shops and with good transport links so that I could visit friends. Renaissance Wantage offered me all of those things as well as finding a lovely church community here too.”

Mrs Paine searched for two months before deciding on a two bedroom home at Renaissance Wantage. Not only was the central location important but she was attracted by the high-quality finish and the variety of the design of the homes: “I liked the fact that there were a variety of layouts to choose from and the style in which each of the homes was finished was wonderful, modern and bright with lots of space. The perfect place to sit and read, which is something I enjoy doing and as a former home economist, moving to a new home with a brand-new kitchen was big treat. The shared lounge and the landscaped gardens are both a big bonus to be able to meet and socialise with neighbours helping to provide a lovely sense of community.”

Walking is also a great hobby of Mrs Paine’s and being on the edge of North Wessex Downs, an area of outstanding national beauty, Wantage is surrounded by some beautiful areas to enjoy the outdoors: “I enjoy walking and try to get out as much as I can. There are also plenty of National Trust properties to visit so there is plenty to keep me busy and given the weather we enjoyed over the summer this year which reminded me of the sort of weather we used to enjoy when I lived in South Africa, with my husband, I was able to make the most of it all. In fact, it was partly the location of Renaissance Wantage that made a difference during lockdown as it was so much easier for me to get out and about, to the shops and the town centre.”

Pam enjoys living at Renaissance Wantage and was delighted to have made her move: “It is just so convenient living here with everything on my doorstep and makes life so much easier for me being able to walk into town or drive a bit further afield and we have such a lovely community here, it is always great to come home.”
